Thanks for Nothing

   "You remember the other day when you said you had bought clothes for me, and I got excited thinking you really had bought clothes for me, but then I learned that the person who would actually wear the clothes was you?"

   "Yes, I bought them for you," she replied.

   "It's okay, I believe you. There's just one thing, though."


   "That shirt you supposedly gave me for Christmas, I really do like it, but it has just now occurred to me that if the clothes you say you have bought for me are in fact worn by you, then that shirt you bought was not really for me, but for you."

   "Um . . ."

   "So, when do I finally get my Christmas present?
